BNP leader Chand in jail in Sherpur case

Sherpur District Awami League General Secretary Chanuar Hossain Chanu has sent him to the district jail in a case filed against Rajshahi district BNP convener Abu Saeed Chand for threatening to kill Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and treason.

Sadar GR Amli Court Judge Senior Judicial Magistrate Iqbal Mahmud on Monday (February 12) afternoon rejected the bail application after showing him arrested in the case. Soon after that he was sent to the district jail under special security.

Confirming the matter, Court Police Inspector Khandkar Shahidul Haque said that in view of multiple applications of the investigating officer of the case, the court ordered the presence warrant for the accused Abu Saeed Chand. In that context, he was produced in the court on Monday from Rajshahi Central Jail on the warrant of appearance. He was already detained in jail in various districts including Rajshahi

The investigation officer of the case is the SI of Sadar police station. Zahidul Islam said that immediately after the case, the main accused Chand, who was detained in a different jail, was requested to show the arrest warrant. Investigation into the incident is ongoing. He will be remanded for questioning soon.

It is to be noted that on May 19, 2023, Rajshahi district BNP convenor Abu Said Chand threatened to send Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to the graveyard in a public meeting in Puthia area of ​​Rajshahi. District Awami League General Secretary Chanuar Hossain Chanu filed a case in the administrative court of Sherpur on May 23 accusing BNP leader Chand as the head and 2/3 others as co-accused citing the matter as a threat to the dignity of the Prime Minister and

the Awami League president and to the sovereignty of the Bangladesh state. Two days later, in the same incident, District Awami League Organizing Secretary Anwarul Hasan Utpal filed another case in court as the plaintiff.
