BNP leaders are speaking incoherently to save face. Foreign Minister

Foreign Minister and Joint General Secretary of the Awami League, Hasan Mahmud, said that BNP leaders Mirza Fakhrul Islam and Amir Khosru are now talking incoherently to save their faces due to the failure of the BNP’s anti-election conspiracy and the worldwide interest in working with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government.

He said this in the speech of the chief guest at the opening session of the biennial general meeting of the Dhaka Journalist Union at the National Press Club in the capital on Tuesday (February 20).

The minister said that the leaders of the BNP boycotting the elections are now being questioned by the workers in the face of cannons. And the current Awami League government is much stronger than any previous government.

He said that India, Russia, China, the United Kingdom, the United States, the European Union, the United Nations, and other countries and organizations have congratulated the elected government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for the fourth consecutive time and for the fifth time after the January 7 election and expressed their interest in the work. Those who conspired about the election wanted to thwart it; now they are silent, their faces have turned pale, and they don’t know what to do now.

The foreign minister said BNP should get out of the bad culture of terrorist activities, say no to everything, and practice systematic politics.

I am congratulating all the members on the occasion of the conference of the Dhaka Journalist Union. Hasan Mahmud said journalists open the third eye of society. Where the eyes of the authorities do not reach, they shed light. My long-standing relationship with journalists—I was, am, and will be with journalists.

Under the chairmanship of Dhaka Journalist Union President Sohail Haider Chowdhury, the Prime Minister’s former Information Adviser, Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, was the inaugural speaker, and BFUJ President Omar Farooq, National Press Club President Farida Yasmin, General Secretary Shyamal Dutt, and BFU Acting Secretary General Sheikh Mamunur Rashid gave speeches as honored guests.
