There is no risk in investing in treasury bills: Mohammad Tarek

The executive president of Bangladesh Institute of Capital Market (BICM) said that there is zero risk in investing in fixed income securities, especially treasury bills. Mohammad Tarek.
He said, because it is the responsibility of the government. Besides, the amount of risk is less in the corporate bonds which have high level.
He said these things while speaking as the chief guest at the workshop titled ‘Investing Basics of Fixed Income Securities’ jointly organized by Capital Market Journalists Forum (CMJF) and Royal Capital on Monday (February 12).
The workshop was held at the auditorium of CMJF, Alraji Complex, Paltan.
President Golam Samdani Bhuiyan delivered the welcome address moderated by CMJF General Secretary Abu Ali.

Royal Capital Chief Operating Officer Mamunur Rashid was the special guest. Royal Capital’s Head of Research Akramul Alam provided training in the workshop.
Mohammad Tarek said that not all people have the same ability to take risks. Some can take more risk and some can take less. So not all investors are the same. From here, fixed income securities can be a good investment option. Because the risk is relatively low.
He said, our bond market has just started and gradually more new products are coming. Three Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) are currently in the process of being launched. ETF is a product more like a mutual fund. Moreover, Sukuk bonds have come into the market, Treasury bills are doing quite well because the government’s financing needs are high. Treasury bills have also created a good investment opportunity.
