Supreme Court Bar: Chief Election Commissioner is Abul Khair

Senior lawyer Advocate Abul Khair has been appointed as the convener of the election sub-committee to conduct the election of Supreme Court lawyers, the highest court of the country. Supreme Court Bar Editor Advocate Abdun Noor Dulal confirmed the matter on Saturday (February 17).

He said, taking into consideration the current reality, Supreme Court’s senior lawyer Abul Khair has been given the responsibility of convenor of the election sub-committee. Hope a transparent, free, impartial and participatory election will be held under his leadership. Before this, the matter was discussed with the member of the executive committee of the Supreme Court Bar Association on Thursday.The election of the executive committee of the Supreme Court Bar Association for the 2024-2025 session will be held on March 6 and 7. The convenor of the management committee is senior advocate Abul Khair, a valiant freedom fighter and former vice-president of the Supreme Court Bar Association.

Earlier on February 11, a notice was issued in this regard by the Supreme Court Bar Association (Bar). As per the election schedule, nomination papers can be submitted between 10 am and 5 pm from February 12 to February 22. The deadline for selection of nomination papers was announced on February 22 at 5:30 pm and the deadline for withdrawal of nomination papers was announced on February 25 at 5:00 pm.

Elections will be held for a total of 14 posts, including 1 post of president of the working committee, 2 posts of vice-president, 1 post of editor, 1 post of treasurer, 2 posts of co-editor and 7 posts of executive committee members.
