The death of the director of the environment department along with his wife

Director of Environment Department (Dhaka Region) Nazmul Ahsan (56) and his wife Nahid Binte Alam (48) died. On Thursday (February 22), his wife Nahid died in the morning while undergoing treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU). Nazmul Ahsan died yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital.
It is known that the bodies of both are in the morgue of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College. They lived in government quarters in Mirpur. They have two daughters. Nazmul Ahsan’s village home is in Magura Sadar Upazila.
A hospital source initially said that they died of excessive alcohol consumption. But no one has commented on this till now.
Mirpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Munshi Chhabbir Ahmad confirmed the death. He said that yesterday (Wednesday) the husband and wife fell ill at Mirpur-2 Officers Complex. Later, when the family members took Nazmul Ahsan to Suhrawardy Hospital, the doctor on duty declared him dead.
At the same time his ailing wife Nahid bint Alam was admitted to BSMMU. Today (Thursday) at 9:30 am, he died there while undergoing treatment.
The OC also said that Najmul Ahsan was the director of the Dhaka region of the Department of Environment. The cause of their death will be known after getting the post-mortem report. If their family complains then an investigation will be done.
