I will work in the service of people from neutrality: Health Minister

Health Minister Dr. Samant Lal Sen said that he will work in the service of people from neutrality and without fear.
He said, I am not a political leader, I have not even elected. The Prime Minister has appointed me as the Minister of Health to serve the people.
He said these things in a special exchange meeting with district and department level doctors, nurses and other officials at Cox’s Bazar Medical College on Saturday (February 17).
The minister said, I will do my work impartially and without fear in the service of the people.

Meanwhile, the health minister urged everyone to perform their duties properly in their respective workplaces to face the challenges of the health and family planning department of the district. He also gave directions for improving the quality of health care in the district.

In another meeting with teachers and students, the health minister said that medical students must first become good doctors by studying with attention. Along with this, students must engage themselves in the medical profession with an honest and ideal mentality. We don’t just want thousands of doctors, we want good doctors, the meaning of this word should be understood by the students.
Health Minister assured that the construction work of Cox’s Bazar Medical College Hospital will be started soon.
The Health Minister visited Union Hospital Limited and 250-bed Cox’s Bazar District Headquarters Hospital on Hospital Road in Cox’s Bazar.
During the visit, he expressed his displeasure at the various irregularities and mismanagement of the private hospital.

The hospital was operating ICUs, CT scan machines, operation theaters and post-operative rooms outside the scope of its licence. Accordingly, the Minister of Health ordered the closure of the said parts of the hospital.

At the same time, he also directed to transfer the patients admitted to the unauthorized ICU and post-operative rooms to the 250-bed District Headquarters Hospital on an urgent basis

Later, the Minister spoke to the patients and doctors in charge of the 250-bed Cox’s Bazar District Sadar Hospital’s Emergency Department, Women’s Medicine Department, CCU, Sheikh Russell Neonatal Service Unit (SCANU) and inquired about the treatment of the patients.
The minister directed the hospital officials to complete all the tests at the hospital itself.

During this time he spoke to emergency department, outdoor and indoor patients and inquired about their treatment.
Later he discussed with the doctors of Ukhia Upazila Health Complex.
Besides, the Minister of Health visited Khuniapalong Union Sub Health Center of Ramu Upazila and witnessed the picture of medical and family planning services at the Union level.
