The IGP said this in his speech as the chief guest at the Sudhi rally organized on the occasion of the 45th founding anniversary of CMP at Chittagong Metropolitan Police Lines on Sunday afternoon.
Bangladesh Police Women Welfare Association (PUNAK) president Dr. was a special guest at the event. Taiba Musarrat Janha Chowdhury. CMP Commissioner Krishna Pad Roy along with Mayor of Chittagong City Corporation, local members of parliament, vice-chancellors of various universities, brave freedom fighters, former and present senior police officers, senior officials of various government and private departments, public representatives and dignitaries of the city were present at this timewasHe said that every member of Bangladesh Police has always remained steadfast in performing his duties in all the critical moments of the country. They responded to Bangabandhu’s call and fired the first bullet at our independence. The police did not hesitate to give their lives even in Bangabandhu Bhavan.
Members of the CMP have been able to keep crime under control in the city. He said, in the future, we have to serve the city residents with the conviction of earning their trust and love.
He said that since the honorable Prime Minister of the present government took charge, Bangladesh has taken various steps to increase the manpower and capacity of the police. About 100,000 manpower of Bangladesh Police has been increased. Due to this increased manpower we have been able to control crime effectively.
He said that before the Honorable Prime Minister assumed power, militancy and terrorism were rampant in the country. The south-west was a town of terror. Simultaneously, the Holi game of militancy and terrorism was going on by bombing 63 districts. One group was trying to make Bangladesh a failed state. With the sincere initiative of the honorable Prime Minister, Bangladesh Police has shown enviable success in suppressing militancy and terrorism.
He said, once upon a time, it was difficult to unravel the mystery of the clueless case. We were so called source dependent. Today the police are unraveling the mystery of the clueless case at the fastest possible time.
He said that the per capita income of the people is increasing due to maintaining stable law and order in the country. We are dreaming of a better-smart Bangladesh in 2041 under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister. Every member of Bangladesh Police is working tirelessly to build Smart Bangladesh.
The IGP expressed his hope that the respectable residents of Chittagong will continue to cooperate with the police in the discharge of their duties.
Earlier, the IGP formally inaugurated the newly constructed Naval Investigation Center at Dangar Char under Karnaphuli police station in Chittagong this morning. He visited various parts of the Naval Investigation Center and signed the inspection book.
At this time, Chittagong Metropolitan Police Commissioner Krishna Pad Roy, Chittagong Range DIG Nur Alam Meena, Chittagong Superintendent of Police S. M. Shafiullah and senior officials of Chittagong Metropolitan Police and Range were present.
