Australia is ready to work with Bangladesh

Australia’s Assistant Defense Minister Matt Thistlewate congratulated the Bangladesh government for forming a new government. He said that there is a very close relationship between Australia and Bangladesh. Australia is ready to work with the current government.

This information was informed in a press release of Bangladesh High Commission in Australia on WednesdayIt was informed that, on the occasion of Bangladesh’s Independence and National Day, Australia’s Assistant Defense Minister Matt Thisselwaite was invited to the reception organized by the Bangladesh High Commission at the Hyatt Hotel in Canberra, the capital of Australia.

He said on the occasion that Australia’s recognition of Bangladesh on January 31, 1972 and Australian Prime Minister Gough Whitlam’s visit to Bangladesh in January 1975 marked the beginning of strong relations between the two countries.

He also appreciated the role of expatriate Bangladeshis in the development of Australia.

At this time, Bangladesh High Commissioner M Allama Siddiqui expressed optimism that the bilateral partnership between Bangladesh and Australia will increase on a wider scale.

He expressed gratitude to the government and people of Australia for their role in the liberation war of Bangladesh.

Australia’s Federal MP Andrew Charlton, Australian Capital Territory Government’s Shadow Multicultural Minister Peter Kane, Chief of Protocol and Foreign Affairs and other ministry officials, ambassadors of various countries and Bangladeshis living in Australia were present at the reception.

The representatives of the Australian Royal Military Band performed the national anthems of Bangladesh and Australia. Cake cutting and short cultural programs were organized on the occasion of Independence Day.

Apart from this, documentaries made on Bangladesh’s history, tradition and culture, natural beauty and development journey are also shown.

Earlier on Wednesday morning, the national flag was hoisted at the premises of Bangladesh High Commission on the occasion of Independence Day.

At this time, the speeches of the President, Prime Minister, Foreign Minister were read. Besides, special prayers are offered for those who have contributed and martyred in the liberation struggle and for the development and progress of Bangladesh
