India seizes Pakistan-bound ship carrying nuclear weapons

India has seized a Pakistan-bound ship at Mumbai’s Nava Sheva port on suspicion of transporting equipment for use in its nuclear and ballistic missile programmes.

The Indian media outlet Indian Express said this in a report on Sunday about the local authorities.

According to the report, Indian security agencies intercepted the ship on its way to Pakistan with military equipment from China. Acting on intelligence, the Indian Customs officials seized the Malta-flagged commercial vessel en route to Karachi. The ship was later searched.

A team from India’s Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) also inspected the shipment.

After the search, it was reported that all such equipment was found on the ship, which could be used by Pakistan for its nuclear program. That is why the ship was impounded at Mumbai’s Nava Sheva port.
