Australian Prime Minister’s engagement on Valentine’s Day

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese got engaged to his girlfriend of four years, Jodie Haydon, on International Valentine’s Day (February 14). He got engaged at the ‘Lodge’, the official residence of the Australian Prime Minister in Canberra.
Albanese proposed to the couple with a specially designed ring. Albanese is the first Australian leader to become engaged while in the prime minister’s office.
Posting a selfie with Jodi on social media after the engagement, Anthony wrote, ‘She (Jodi) said “yes”.
The Albanese-Jodi pair later said in a joint statement that they were “thrilled, excited” to share the news. They want to spend the rest of their lives together. They are very lucky to have each other.
After the announcement of engagement, many congratulated the couple. Among them are various members of the country’s parliament, New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, popular TV chef Nigella Lawson.
Albanese was previously married. His ex-wife’s name is Carmel Tebbutt. He is a former Deputy Premier of New South Wales. The two separated in 2019 after 19 years of marriage. They have one son. His name is Nathan Albanese (23).
Albanese, 60, and Jodie, 45, first met at a business dinner in Melbourne in 2020.
