‘Attack’ on Gandhi statue in Washington, covered with cloth

According to reports, a group of miscreants smeared ink on the statue. It is believed to have been done with graffiti spray paint. Later the local administration covered the Gandhi statue with cloth. According to the police, this incident can happen on the night of June 2 and 3. A complaint has been filed with the local law enforcement agencies on behalf of the Indian Embassy.

 

The US administration has expressed its regret to the Indian Embassy in this incident. At the same time, it has been informed that they are making arrangements to clean the idol as soon as possible.

 

The Metropolitan Police, Diplomatic Security Service and National Park Police visited the scene and started an investigation, the US Department of the Interior said.

 

In ongoing protests in Washington DC, protesters torched a historic church, vandalized several important and historic buildings. These include the National Monument and the Lincoln Memorial.
