Porimoni’s drug case will continue or not, the verdict is scheduled on February 22

The High Court has set February 22 as the date for the ruling on the cancellation of the drug case filed against actress Parimani at Banani police station in the capital.

On Tuesday (February 20), the High Court bench headed by Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam fixed this day for announcing the verdict.

On the afternoon of August 4, 2021, RAB raided Parimani’s residence on road number 12 of Banani in the capital. At that time, a large quantity of drugs was seized from that house. The court granted Parimani’s remand for four days on August 5 and two days on August 10 of that year in the drug case. Later on August 13, after the remand, he was sent to jail.
Then on August 19 of the same year, the court granted one more day’s remand. After the remand, he was again sent to prison on August 21. On August 31, the then Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge KM Imrul Kayesh granted his bail. He was released the next day.

Later, on October 4 of the same year, the investigating officer of the case submitted a charge sheet to the GR branch of the concerned police station of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court of Dhaka in the name of three persons including Inspector Kazi Golam Mostafa Parimani. As the case was ready for trial, it was sent to the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court.

On January 5, 2022, Judge Nazrul Islam of Dhaka’s Special Judge Court-10 issued an order framing the charges against the three. The other two defendants who started the trial are Parimani’s associate Ashraful Islam Dipu and Md. Kabir Hawladar.

Later, Porimoni appealed to the High Court to cancel the case. On March 1 last year, the High Court issued a ruling asking why the case should not be dismissed after hearing the application. He also ordered a stay on the proceedings of the case.
