If the international market decreases, the price of LPG will also decrease in the country

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid has said that there is no opportunity to reduce the price of private LPG gas in the country without reducing the price of LPG in the international market.

He said, LPG is import dependent. At present, the price of 12.5 kg government LPG gas is Tk 591, he said.

The minister gave this information in a written reply to a question of independent member Muhammad Saiful Islam in the session of National Parliament on Sunday (February 25).

Nasrul Hamid said that since the country’s private LPG is dependent on imports (98% of the total demand), there is no opportunity to reduce the price of private LPG in the domestic market without reducing the price of LPG in the international market.

Currently, each government LPG gas cylinder weighing 12.5 kg is priced at Tk 591.

Besides, the widely used private 12 kg LPG gas cylinder is priced at Tk 1,474.
