Three people were injured, including police, in a road accident in Shariatpur.

At night, a police security team was patrolling the road in CNG-driven autorickshaws. The carelessness of the autorickshaw driver collides with a parked car. Two policemen and the autorickshaw driver were seriously injured. They have been sent to Rajarbag Police Hospital in Dhaka for better treatment.

The accident took place at the bus station of Shariatpur’s Damudya upazila at 3 p.m. on Monday, February 19.

The injured are Damudya police sub-inspector (ASI) Rajiv Dutt, constable Asheke Rasul Arif, and autorickshaw driver Almas Sardar. Almas is the son of Zulfikar Sardar of Chatiani village in Kaneshwar union of Damudya upazila.

According to local and police sources, policemen Rajiv Dutt and Asheke Rasool Arif were performing night duty on the roads, including Damudya Bazar. They were on duty at night in the autorickshaw of driver Almas. On the way to Damudya Bazar from Rishi Bari junction, due to the carelessness of the driver, the vehicle parked at Damudya bus station collided with the vehicle. When they were seriously injured, the locals rescued them and took them to the Damudya Upazila Health Complex. Later, on the doctor’s advice, they were sent to Rajarbag Police Hospital in Dhaka for better treatment.

Advocate Rokon, President of the Shariatpur District CNG-Autorickshaw Workers Union, said that the workers cooperated with the police almost every day. A terrible accident took place in the area of Damudya bus station as it was late at night. The injured are under treatment in the hospital.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Damudya police station Emarat Hossain said that two members of the police and the CNG driver were seriously injured in the accident during night duty. They are undergoing treatment at Rajarbagh Police Hospital. I hope they get well soon.
