BNP Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan said the BNP has been out of power for 17 years. He said these things to reporters after meeting with the family of Dhaka Metropolitan BNP leader Imtiaz Ahmed Bulbul, who was killed while incarcerated in Gopi Bagh of the capital on Friday (February 23).

Political programs are of different types according to the demands of different times. We have won many movements. We have won the movement to overthrow the dictator Ershad. This BNP established multi-party democracy over Gorestan of Bakshal (one-party rule); this BNP established parliamentary democracy at the end of military dictatorship. Bulbul Kashimpur, who was arrested on October 24, suffered a heart attack at the Dhaka Central Jail in Kashimpur on November 24 and was brought to the Suhrawardy Heart Institute, where the doctors declared him dead.
