Private hospitals should be run according to the government’s conditions: Health Minister

Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Samanta Lal Sen has ordered that private medical, clinic, diagnostic centers should be run in accordance with the government’s conditions from now on.
He said this while speaking as the chief guest at an event organized by Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute at Rajandrapur in Gazipur on Thursday (February 22) afternoon. Additional Secretary, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare along with senior officials of the Department of Health were present.

The health minister said that from now on, private medical, clinics and diagnostic centers should be run according to the government’s specific conditions. This is because, we are noticing, some dishonest people are doing business with people’s lives by opening nominal hospitals, clinics, diagnostic centers just for business interests without caring about any rules of the government. They can no longer go beyond the rules. Still over 1200 private health centers are not registered. They don’t have good doctors, nurses, technicians. So what are they running the hospital with? How are they getting patients? We have to think about them. I want to make it clear that all such unregistered health centers will be closed immediately. And, today I have issued an office order with ten special instructions signed by the Director (Administration) through the

Department of Health. Every private medical, clinic, diagnostic center must run the hospital in compliance with this office order. Failure to do so will result in severe penalties including cancellation of registration.
