Education Minister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury said that there is no plan to change the new education system. He said this during the question and answer session in Parliament on Wednesday.
In response to the question of Jasdar MP AKM Rezaul Karim Tansen, elected from Bogra, the Education Minister said that discussions are going on with the educationists to implement the new system more effectively.
He said that the country’s new education system will create a talented nation. A new education system based on a new curriculum will help our next generation cope with the competitive world as well as the fourth industrial revolution, globalization, climate change risks and the transition from middle-income countries to developed countries.
Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury said that the students will be able to face the challenges of the new era more effectively through the new merit-based education system after getting out of the note-based and certificate-based education system in the past.
He said that students are not without talent, students will become more efficient and competent in the new education system.
In response to the question of Independent MP Moshiur Rahman Sajal, elected from Dhaka-5 Constituency, the Education Minister said that it is not that there is no examination in the new education system. New education systems and assessment systems have been introduced to break the mark and certificate based education system, which is different from the traditional examination system. As a result, many people are complaining that there is no exam in the new system as the exam is not based on memorization as before.
He said, a modern performance evaluation system has been introduced in the new curriculum with continuous and short evaluation. Here written assessment, problem solving, individual work, group work are being assessed.
