On the 5th day of Police Week 2024 today Saturday (March 02) morning an exchange meeting of senior police officers with Ministers of various Ministries and Senior Secretaries/Secretaries of respective Ministries was held at Rajarbagh Police Lines.
Finance Minister Mr. Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali MP was present as a guest in the meeting; Minister of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Mr. Anisul Haque MP and Minister of Public Administration Mr. Farhad Hossain MP.
In a meeting chaired by Inspector General of Police, Bangladesh Mr. Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun BPM (Bar), PPM Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration Mr. Mohammad Mejbah Uddin Chowdhury, Secretary of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Mr. Md Golam Sarwar, Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works KaziWashi Uddin and Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Finance Mr. Manjurul Mannan were present.Mr. Devdas Bhattacharya, President of the Implementation Sub-Committee and Additional IGP gave the welcome speech.
Officials from Superintendent of Police and above were present on the occasion.
Various issues of Bangladesh Police related to various ministries were discussed in the meeting.
The finance minister said that Bengali policemen were the first to resist the Pakistani forces at Rajarbagh. He showed deep respect to those policemen.
Addressing the senior police officers present at the meeting, the Law Minister said, I respect the sense of responsibility and devotion you show in performing your duties. He said, development is difficult if law and order is not under control. Therefore, the service of Bangladesh Police is very essential.
The law minister said, you deserve appreciation for the way you are working for the development of the country. He called upon the police officers to continue performing this duty with more devotion.
The Law Minister assured that he will consider the matters proposed in the meeting with importance.
The Public Administration Minister says that the police are working professionally to establish the rule of law and human rights. Police are developing themselves to meet the needs of the age and the expectations of the people.
He said that due to the law and order situation of the country being very normal, the country is moving ahead in the economic field today.
Referring to various issues related to the Ministry of Public Administration proposed in the meeting, he said that the Ministry of Public Administration is very sincere in considering these issues.
The IGP said that Bangladesh Police has not failed to fulfill its duties in any crisis and need of the country since the first armed resistance in the liberation war. Bangladesh Police have never deviated from their professionalism.
He said that every policeman is ready to perform his duty with utmost sincerity and dedication to uphold the country’s independence and maintain law and order in the country.
The IGP highlighted the rationale of the various issues proposed to increase the capacity of the Bangladesh Police in order to maintain law and order in the country and ensure the safety of people’s lives and property
