Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) gave a national guard of honor and farewell reception to His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck of Bhutan at Sonahat land port in Kurigram.

As part of his state visit to Bangladesh, the King of Bhutan visited the Special Economic Zone of Kurigram District and Sonahat Land Port on March 28, 2024. BGB Rangpur Region Commander Brigadier General Khondkar Shafikuzzaman, PSC extended greetings and a warm welcome to the King of Bhutan when he arrived at Sonahat land port this afternoon. Meanwhile, a well-armed Choukasdal of the BGB’s Kurigram Battalion (22 BGB) presented a state guard of honor to the king. The King of Bhutan then signed the BGB VVIP visit card and gave sweets to the BGB members who were presenting the guard of honour.

Later, after completing the immigration process, the King of Bhutan left for India and the King of Bhutan was given a farewell welcome by the BGB’s Rangpur Region Commander after providing a state guard of honor and strict security up to the zero line of the border.

BGB Rangpur Sector Commander Col. Mamunur Rashid, PSC, Kurigram Battalion (22 BGB) Commander Lt. Col. Muhammad Masudur Rahman along with other BGB officials were present.

It is to be noted that after the 04-day state visit to Bangladesh, His Majesty the King of Bhutan left for India by land at 0250 hours today to return to his country
