The Pentagon has confirmed that the US drone was destroyed in an attack by Houthi rebels in Yemen. This information was found in the report of AFP.
According to reports, the Houthis destroyed a military MQ-9 Reaper drone near Yemen on Monday, the Pentagon said.
The drone went down in the Red Sea off the coast of Houthi-controlled territory in Yemen, Pentagon deputy spokeswoman Sabrina Singh told reporters. The Houthis fired a surface-to-air missile at the drone and it was shot down.
Meanwhile, CNN reported that this Yemeni armed group shot down another US drone of the same model off the coast of Yemen in November last year. This unmanned drone is used for intelligence gathering.
