A Brazilian Spanish tourist was allegedly gang-raped by seven men in India. Three people have been arrested, and the police are looking for the other four. A Brazilian-Spanish couple was touring India on a motorcycle.
Police officer Pitambar Singh Khewar said, “A special police team has been formed to nab the rest.
We will ensure that the culprits get strict punishment.”
The couple was attacked in Jharkhand’s Dumka district last Friday night. The 28-year-old vlogger and her 64-year-old husband were camping. They have been touring different countries on motorcycles for the past few years.
Both are citizens of Spain.
The police found them on the side of the road around eleven o’clock on the day of the incident. They looked like they had been subjected to severe physical abuse. Then they were rescued and taken to the hospital.
There, they undergo a medical examination. According to the report, the woman was raped.
In a video on Instagram, the couple alleged that they had been killed and that the woman had been gang-raped. Now, however, the video has been deleted. In the past few years, the couple has traveled to many places around the world.
They share their experiences on social media. They have 240 thousand followers.
The couple told Spanish television that the attackers repeatedly beat the husband and raped the wife. They also said that they did not get a place in any hotel, so they camped at a nearby place.
The woman said, “Some people took turns raping her.” The others stood far away and watched. It went on for two hours.
Situation in India
Officials said that an average of 86 women are raped in India every day. Some victims never report their abuse to the police. Women’s rights activists blame India’s patriarchal system for this.
They also brought the police and the judiciary into the fold. Because cases go on for years and rarely get punished.
In 2012, the infamous Nirbhaya incident in Delhi rocked the entire country and shook the entire world. A 23-year-old woman was raped on a bus, brutally murdered, then dumped.
Later, however, the accused were hanged. Only one juvenile delinquent was released after serving time in prison.
