11 killed in Israeli attack on Rafah refugee camp

Israel has attacked a refugee camp in the town of Rafah in the Palestinian territory of Gaza. 11 Palestinians were killed, and fifty more people were injured.

Local authorities confirmed the matter on Saturday (March 2). Aljazeera news.

The attack and casualties came hours after 17 people were killed in an attack elsewhere in the Gaza Strip.

Millions of displaced Palestinians are staying in Rafah city, mainly due to Israeli attacks, and many are forced to live in these makeshift tent-built shelters without access to shelters.

At least 50 more people were injured in Saturday’s drone strike on a tent located next to the entrance of Al-Helal Al-Emirati Maternity Hospital in Tal As-Sultan in Rafah City, Gaza’s health ministry said in a statement.

The ministry also said Abdel Fattah Abu Marhi, head of the hospital’s paramedic unit, was killed in Saturday’s attack, and children were among the injured.

It should be noted that since the unprecedented cross-border attack by Hamas on October 7 last year, Israel has continued to carry out continuous air and ground attacks on the Gaza Strip. Thousands of buildings, including hospitals, schools, refugee camps, mosques, and churches, have been damaged or destroyed in this Israeli attack.

According to the Ministry of Health of the Palestinian territory of Gaza, 30 thousand 320 Palestinians have been killed so far as a result of Israel’s attack on Gaza. Most of them are women and children. Besides, more than 71 thousand people were injured.

The ministry also said that at least 92 people were killed in Gaza in the last 24 hours. Earlier, at least 17 Palestinians were killed and dozens injured in Israeli airstrikes targeting three houses elsewhere in the Gaza Strip.
