The month-long Dhaka International Trade Fair will come down on Tuesday (February 20). The fair ends with the closing ceremony. Director of the fair Vivek Sarkar confirmed this information to the media.
He said that the fair will continue till 10 pm tonight. Before this, a closing ceremony will be held on the second floor of the fair premises at 4 pm. Commerce State Minister Ahsanul Islam Titu, Narayanganj-1 Member of Parliament Golam Dastgir Gazi and Commerce Ministry Senior Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh will be present. In the closing ceremony, detailed information will be given including shopping at the fair.
This time the Dhaka International Trade Fair has started on January 21. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the largest product exhibition in the country at 10:30 a.m. that day. Other times this fair started from January 1, but this time it was delayed due to the election. There were a total of 330 stalls at this month-long fair.
The tradition of starting the trade fair at the beginning of the new year is many years old. But due to the election of the 12th National Assembly on January 7, the fair was postponed. From 1995 to 2020, this fair was held in Sherebangla Nagar as a joint initiative of the Ministry of Commerce and the Export Development Bureau. The fair could not be held in 2021 due to the covid pandemic.
Then in 2022, the fair moved to the Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center (BBCFEC) for the first time amid pandemic restrictions. According to EPB information, in addition to domestic products, various countries including India, Pakistan, Thailand, Turkey, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Nepal participated in this year’s trade fair. Aims to find large market for export of domestic products besides product display.
