Hon’ble Home Minister Bir Muktijodha Asaduzzaman Khan said that the Highway Police is working tirelessly to maintain order in the movement of vehicles on the highway, prevent road accidents, theft, robbery, robbery and other criminal activities.
He said this while addressing the chief guest at a discussion meeting organized on the occasion of the inauguration of ‘Highway Police Service Week-2024’ at the Bangladesh Police Auditorium in Rajarbagh on Tuesday morning.

Additional IGP Highway Police Md Shahabuddin Khan BPM (Bar) delivered the welcome address on the occasion.
Senior police officers, road transport owner-labor leaders, invited guests were present on the occasion. Officials from the Regional Office of the Highway Police were involved in the program online.
Hon’ble Home Minister said that the installation of CCTV cameras along 250 km of Dhaka-Chittagong highway is underway to make the highway system of Bangladesh in the light of Zero Accident Vision. Besides, it is very important to ensure smooth traffic management of Chittagong, Mongla and Payra sea ports, establishment of Maheshkhali Matarbari deep sea port under construction, 100 public and private economic zones, connecting roads of sea ports and highways of important tourist centers. Highway Police is playing an important role in this regard.
Senior Secretary Md. Mostafizur Rahman BPAA said that Highway Police is playing an important role in highway traffic management, passenger and goods transportation and highway discipline control.
In the President’s speech, Inspector General of Police, Bangladesh Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun BPM (Bar), PPM said that we are adopting ‘zero tolerance’ policy against any animosity. No leniency is shown when a policeman is involved in irregularities. Departmental and appropriate legal action was taken against him.
He said, under the visionary leadership of the honorable Prime Minister, we have become a developing country out of Qatar. The Highway Police is carrying out its duties with sincerity and dedication with limited manpower to deliver the benefits of these development activities to the people.
Mr. IGP said, with the promise of highway police service week-2024, in the future to build the ‘Golden Bangla’ of the father of the nation’s dream and ‘Smart Bangladesh’ announced by the Honorable Prime Minister, everyone will become a smart police and provide safety of people’s life and property centered on the highway, making Bangladesh a developed and prosperous countryTo perform duties with sincerity, dedication, honesty and professionalism.Additional IGP Md. Shahabuddin Khan said that highway police service week-2024 is being observed to accelerate the development progress of the country by building orderly highways.
He said that the Highway Police wants to build safe highways by gaining public trust. He appealed to all to develop a law abiding culture.
At the beginning of the program, a video documentary on the overall activities of the Highway Police was shown. The Chief Guest inaugurated the program of ‘Body Worn Camera’.
Earlier, the Home Minister along with other guests inaugurated the Highway Police Service Week-2024 by blowing balloons.
Highway Police Service Week will be observed from 13th to 19th February 2024 in 8 regions of highways
