A woman committed suicide by jumping under the train with her child in Mymensingh. The incident took place on Sunday (February 25) afternoon at the College Road rail crossing area of the city. However, it was not possible to know their names and identities.
CCTV footage from the scene shows a woman wearing a black burqa walking along the railway track with a child in her lap. As the train approached, the woman lay down on the track with the child. The woman and child died on the spot.
Kotwali Model Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Anwar Hossain told the media that a woman and a two-year-old boy died on the spot when a Mymensingh-bound local train left from Jamalpur’s Dewanganj reached the College Road rail crossing area. Two dead bodies were recovered after reaching there. Their identity is not yet known.
According to the CCTV footage, it is believed that the woman committed suicide with the child.
