The Election Commission (EC) has revealed the total number of voters in the country. At the end of the latest update, the number of voters in the country has increased to 12 crore 18 lakh 50 thousand 160 people.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal gave this information at the opening ceremony of the National Voter’s Day in front of the election building of Agargaon in the capital on Saturday (March 2).
He said that in the final list, there are 6 crore 21 lakh 44 thousand 587 male voters. There are 5 crore 97 lakh 4 thousand 641 female and 932 hijra voters. Now at the end of the update, the number of voters stands at 12 crore 18 lakh 50 thousand 160 people.
Earlier, the Election Commission Secretariat published the final voter list after updating. According to the list, 26 lakh 98 thousand 720 voters have increased compared to the final list published on March 2 last year. According to the list, the number of male voters increased by 16 lakh 98 thousand 863 in one year, last year the number of male voters was 6 crore 4 lakh 45 thousand 724.
Women voters increased by 99 thousand 762 people, last year the number of women voters was 5 crore 87 lakh 4 thousand 879 people. Hijra voters also increased, there were 837 voters. In all, the voter turnout has increased by 2.26 percent this year.
