Inspector General of Police, Bangladesh Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun BPM (Bar), PPM has instructed the field level police officers to be on maximum alert to ensure safe and comfortable travel of the people at home during Eid.
He said that Nasimon, Karimon, Bhatavti etc. vehicles will be stopped on the highway. In order to ensure safe travel of passengers, no vehicle without fitness will be allowed to ply. He also directed the senior police officials to take effective measures to ensure smooth movement of vehicles on the highways through personal supervision from the field at all times.
The IGP gave this instruction while presiding over the overall law and order, security and traffic management meeting on the occasion of upcoming holy Eid-ul-Fitr and Bengali New Year celebrations at the Hall of Pride of Police Headquarters on Tuesday morning (April 02, 2024).
Additional IGP (Administration) Md. Kamrul Ahsan BPM (Bar), Additional IGP of Special Branch Md. Monirul Islam BPM (Bar), PPM (Bar) along with other Additional IGPs, heads of specialized units, heads of various units of Dhaka Police, Commissioners of Metropolitan Police and Range DIGswas presentBesides, Superintendents of Police of all districts were involved in the meeting on the online platform.
In the meeting, in view of Eid-ul-Fitr and Pahela Baishakh, the overall law and order situation, industrial factories, garment industry, traffic management etc. were discussed in detail.
The IGP directed the police officers to ensure safe travel of passengers by road, rail and water. He directed the Naval Police to take special measures to prevent maritime accidents and maritime piracy.
He directed the tourist police as well as the district police to take necessary security measures in providing security to various tourist centers of the country.
The police chief said that the industrial police should take necessary measures immediately so that no unpleasant situation is created regarding the payment of salaries to the workers of the garment industry.
He directed to increase police vigilance to ensure the security of houses, markets, financial institutions and other establishments of people leaving the city on Eid.
The IGP also directed the police officials to ensure the security of important Eid congregations in the country.
The IGP said that Bengali New Year is the festival of Bengali life. Strict security will be ensured to celebrate Pahela Boishakh in a joyful atmosphere.
He said that the field level officials should be alert and cautious so that no rumor can spread any kind of rumor around the Bangla New Year and deteriorate the law and order situation.
The IGP directed the policemen to perform their duties professionally with a view to providing services as per the expectations of the common man.
The IGP expressed hope that the people of the country will be able to celebrate the holy Eid-ul-Fitr and Bengali New Year in a festive atmosphere like every year with the combined efforts of all of us
