Solar power has bright potential in Bangladesh: Nasrul Hamid

State Minister for Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid has commented that Bangladesh’s solar has bright potential among renewable energy sources. Director General of the International Solar Alliance (ISA), Dr. Ajay Mathu, said this when he went to meet him.

The Director General of ISA informed the Minister of State about the issues and decisions of the first Steering Committee meeting of ISA held on Saturday. Nine projects will be implemented by December 2024. Of which six projects will cost 5 lakh 41 thousand US dollars. The estimated cost of the floating solar project has not been determined.

The state minister welcomed the director general and said that Bangladesh’s solar has bright potential among renewable energy sources. It is essential to reduce the amount of land by using modern technology. Potential locations for floating solar must be selected judiciously. ISA can further contribute to the widespread adoption of rooftop solar. Solar power will be further increased in isolated grazing areas. The big pastures of the country, including Bhasanchar, can be worked together.

Nirod Chandra Mandal, Joint Secretary, Power Department, and Ramesh Kumar Kuruppath, Head of Program and Project Implementation Unit of ISA, were present during the discussion.
