Financial institutions have been instructed to properly hoist the national flag on Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day.
Bangladesh Bank’s Financial Institutions and Markets Department has issued a circular in this regard on Tuesday.
There is a provision to keep the national flag at half-mast on February 21 Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day. On this day, the national flag will be at half-mast across the country in memory of language martyrs. In this regard, the Financial Institutions Department of the Ministry of Finance gave instructions on February 8. Bangladesh Bank financial institutions have been instructed to follow this directive.
It has been said that on the occasion of the celebration of Great Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day 2024, the national flag of the correct color and size should be kept at half-mast in the buildings of finance companies on Wednesday, 21 February. The flag should be hoisted at sunrise and lowered at sunset. Proper rules should be followed in lowering the flag to half-mast.
According to Article 4(1) of the Constitution of Bangladesh, ‘The national flag of the Republic is a solid circle of crimson on a green field.’ On the other hand, according to the flag rules, the color of the flag will be dark green and there will be a red circle inside the green. The size of the National Flag shall be 10:6 inches in length and width with a dark green rectangular field surrounded by a red circle. The circle will be one-fifth of the radius in length. According to the size of the building, three types of flag sizes are 10 x 6, 5 x 3 and 2.5 x 1.5.
