Death toll rises to 46 in Bailey Road fire

The death toll has risen to 46 in a massive fire in a high-rise building on Bailey Road in the capital. In addition, the health minister also said that the people under treatment are not free from fear in this incident. Samant Lal Sen.

He gave this information at a briefing organized at the Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute on Friday (March 1).

Earlier on Thursday, around 9:50 p.m., a fire broke out in the building of ‘Kacchi Bhai Restaurant’ located on Bailey Road in the capital. The building that caught fire on Bailey Road is a seven-story building. On the second floor of the building, there is a food shop named ‘Kachchi Bhai’.

The bodies of 23 of those who died in the fire have been handed over. The bodies were handed over to the families by 6:30 a.m. on Friday, March 1. The body is being handed over without a post-mortem, following the request of the family members.

Meanwhile, Director General of Fire Service Brigadier General Moin Uddin said that based on preliminary information, the fire may have started from a stove or gas leakage. He also said that there were gas cylinders on every floor of the building.

And after two and a half hours in the night, RAB-3 ASP Kamrul Hasan said, based on the information found by the eyewitnesses and preliminary investigation, the first fire started in the coffee house next to the Samsung showroom. Witnesses saw the fire rising from below. First on the second floor, then it spread to the whole building. When the fire started to spread from the bottom to the top, it became difficult for people on different floors of the building to get out.
