Afzal Karim has been appointed as the Chairman of Padma Bank Plc. He will serve as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Padma Bank until further instructions from Bangladesh Bank.
Md. Afzal Karim also served as Managing Director of Bangladesh House Building Finance Corporation before joining Sonali Bank as CEO and Managing Director.
Earlier he was working as Deputy Managing Director of Sonali Bank Limited. Besides, Afzal Karim performed important duties of various departments and offices in Bangladesh Agricultural Bank as Deputy Managing Director and General Manager.

In recognition of honesty and efficiency at work, he was awarded the Purity Award by the government in the financial year 2021-2022 among the heads of departments/organizations under the Financial Institutions Division of the Ministry of Finance.
