State Minister for Shipping, KhalidMahmud Chowdhury said that Bangladeshi businessmen can do business in Indian currency.
He told this to the reporters at the Sudhi rally organized at Sultanganj High School grounds after the inauguration of Sultanganj Naval Port at Rajshahi’s Godagari on Monday afternoon.
The Minister of State for Shipping said that we have an agreement with India. We can do business in Indian currency.
State Minister Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury said that the Godagari-Sultanganj seaport has opened up new horizons for the region’s economy and has taken India-Bangladesh relations to another height. Sultanganj Seaport is the 23rd seaport in Bangladesh, along with India. It will soon be transformed into a full-fledged port through comprehensive development and infrastructure.
Earlier, Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, in the speech of the chief guest at the rally, said that there was a conspiracy to make Bangladesh a separatist state like Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Libya. From there, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has brought friendship to everyone, not enmity with anyone. Today, friendly relations exist with neighboring India. In the meantime, I have gone to an unimaginable place on tourist transportation with them.

The Minister of Shipping said that there are 24 land ports in Bangladesh, 23 of which are friendly with India. The other is with Myanmar. So far, 17 land ports have been opened.

Earlier, at around 11:30 a.m., State Minister for Shipping Khaled Mahmud Chowdhury formally inaugurated the port of Sultanganj in Rajshahi and the Maya port in Murshidabad after a long wait of 59 years.

At that time, Indian High Commissioner Prannoy Verma was appointed to Bangladesh, and Awami League presidium member and Rajshahi City Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, Rajshahi-1 Constituency Member of Parliament Omar Farooq Chowdhury, Chapainawabganj-3 Constituency Member of Parliament Abdul Odud, Rajshahi-4 Constituency Member of Parliament Abdul Kalam Azad, Member of Parliament of Rajshahi-5 Constituency Abdul Wadud Dara, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) Chairman Commodore Arif Ahmed Mostafa, BIWTA Joint Secretary Salim Fakir, and others were present.
