IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun said that strict measures should be taken to stop all types of extortion. To stop this crime, all units of the police have to perform their duty with devotion. Sentencing of sensitive cases should be confirmed.
He said these things in the first session of the last day of Police Week 2024 on Sunday morning at the conference of senior police officers.
The IGP said that people’s expectations from the police have increased as a result of performing duties with professionalism. In order to earn the trust of the people as per the expectations, the duties must be performed with sincerity and devotion.
He also said that the transparency and accountability in the recruitment process of the police has been widely appreciated. Bangladesh Police is one of the pioneers of Smart Bangladesh announced by the Prime Minister. With the aim of building a smart police with information technology knowledge, all the policemen have to perform their duties unitedly.
