Three more people who died in the Bailey Road fire have been identified. The three victims are members of the same family. Mehrun Nesa’s father, Muktar Alam Helali, identified their bodies around 9:30 p.m. on Friday.
Those who have been identified are Shah Jalal Uddin (34) and his father, freedom fighter Dr. Abul Kashem. Their home is in the East Gwalia village of Ukhia police station in Cox’s Bazar district. The deceased Shah Jalal was working as an Assistant Revenue Officer of Customs at the Pangaon office in Keraniganj. Bashundhara lived with her family in the Riverview area. His wife Mehrun Nesa Jahan Helali (24) and child Fairuz Kashem Jamira (3) died with him. Muktar Alam Helali told reporters that his daughter and daughter-in-law, Shah Jalal, were supposed to go to Khagrachari for a three-day vacation. He came to his daughter’s house a few days ago. His other daughter, Dina, also came to Dhaka to take the university entrance exam. At the time of the incident, the girl was at her friend’s house in Manipur, the capital.
After the incident, he found the dead bodies at Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 9:30 p.m. and identified them.
