A deer was rescued by the forest department when it came to the locality after being chased by a tiger in the Sundarbans. The deer was rescued in front of Burigoalini station on the Kholpetua River around 9 a.m. on Friday and released in the Sundarbans around 11 a.m.
Huda Mali of Khalishabunia village in the Gabura union of Shyamnagar upazila said that a deer tried to climb the embankment of Khalishabunia village around 9 a.m. on Friday by swimming in the Khalishabunia canal and Kholpetua river after being chased by a tiger from the Sundarbans. After being chased by the locals, the deer jumped into the river and started swimming again. The matter was immediately reported to the Assistant Conservator of Forests, Satkhira Range, Sundarbans, via mobile phone. Around 9:30 am, the forest workers rescued the deer from the river in front of Burigoalini Forest Station with a speed board. Around 11 a.m., the deer was released back into the Sundarbans.
Burigoalini Forest Station official ABM Habibul Islam confirmed the fact of the incident and said that why and how the deer came to the locality are being investigated.
