The United States blocked a UN Security Council resolution condemning Israel’s brutal massacre of Palestinians waiting for aid in the besieged Gaza Strip on Thursday.
The Security Council resolution was drafted by Algeria and supported by 14 Security Council member states. Palestine’s ambassador to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, told reporters this information. News: Reuters.
The problem is that we don’t actually have detailed information about what happened in the Gaza Strip on Thursday, US Deputy Ambassador to the United Nations Robert Wood told reporters. He claimed that the excuse of not having full information about the incident was the reason for vetoing the censure motion.
Earlier, US representatives vetoed several ceasefire proposals in the UN Security Council.
Echoing Israel’s hawkish Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the United States says a ceasefire now would benefit Hamas.
