Iran may launch retaliatory strikes targeting Israeli or American assets in the Middle East in response to Israel’s attack on the Iranian consulate in Syria. On Friday, the official confirmed a report by the US media outlet CNN, saying that there could be an attack next week and we are definitely on high alert.
Last Monday (April 1), 7 Iranian military advisers were killed in an Israeli airstrike on the Iranian consulate in Syria. Quds Force senior commander Mohammad Reza Zahedi is also among the dead.
Iran has said it has the right to retaliate against the attack.
US President Joe Biden discussed the Iranian threat in a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday.
“Our teams have been in regular and continuous communication since then,” said a senior Biden administration official. The United States fully supports Israel’s defense against the Iranian threat.
