Is Nawaz Sharif, the supreme leader of the Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in the new government of Pakistan, withdrawing from active politics? Such questions have come up again and again. Nawaz’s daughter and PML-N senior vice president Maryam Nawaz gave the answer. Nawaz’s party has nominated Maryam as the next Chief Minister of Punjab.
Maryam posted a post on X on Wednesday (February 14). Maryam said in the post that Nawaz Sharif is not moving away from active politics for the next five years. He will play a caretaker role in the PML-N-led government to be formed at the Center and Punjab.
Maryam said that under the leadership of Nawaz, PML-N got majority in the votes of the people of three provinces.
Referring to herself and uncle Shahbaz Sharif as ‘Nawaz’s soldiers’, Maryam said, ‘Shahbaz Sharif and I are his (Nawaz) soldiers. We will act under his direction and under his direction and supervision. May Allah grant us success. Amen.’
