The Himachal Pradesh government is in a political predicament after a dramatic Rajya Sabha election that was plagued by cross-voting and gave the BJP nominee the lone Rajya Sabha seat held by the Congress-ruled State.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that “five to six” Congress MLAs had been “kidnapped” and taken away by the CRPF and the Haryana Police during Tuesday’s vote counting. The lawmakers, who are reportedly headed to Tau Devi Lal Stadium, spent the night in Panchkula, Haryana, which is governed by the BJP. Among them are Rajinder Rana and Ravi Thakur.
