BGB is trying to deal with the situation patiently: Director General

BGB Director General Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui said that the ongoing conflict inside Myanmar is causing a tense situation on the border. In this regard, BGB is trying to deal with the situation by maintaining humanitarian and international good relations with the utmost patience.
He said these things to the media during the inspection of the Ghumdhum border on Wednesday.
BGB Director General visited the Ghumdhum border area of Naikxyongchari upazila of Bandarban and nearby BGB outposts on Wednesday. During the visit, he inquired about and spoke to BGB members at the border.
At this time, he ordered everyone to perform their duties with the utmost professionalism in order to protect the sovereignty of the country as well as to be proactive in dealing with any situation arising at the border.
During the visit, the BGB Director General inquired about all the members of the Border Guard Police (BGP), army, immigration personnel, police, and other agencies who fled from Myanmar, took shelter in Bangladesh, and visited the injured BGP members.
Later, he told reporters that the border situation is under the complete control of the BGB. We are trying our best to deal with the situation by following Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s instructions, being patient and humane, and maintaining good international relations. Regardless of the circumstances, no one else will be allowed to enter Bangladesh illegally.
The BGB chief said that the process of sending them back to Myanmar as soon as possible is underway. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Home Affairs are discussing this with Myanmar. I talked to those who have taken shelter. They are also eager to return quickly.
Stating that the situation is being monitored, the local administration and the higher levels of the government are being informed, he said that BGB is dealing with the situation with the utmost vigilance and patience. He advised people living on the border to be alert in this situation.
