In the opening ceremony of the 8th batch of Masters Program titled “Master of Applied Criminology and Police Management” at Police Staff College Bangladesh, Inspector General of Police, Bangladesh Mr. Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, BPM (Bar), PPM said that the use of modern technology and globalMultidimensionality has been added to the activities of crime and criminals in changing social systemsHe emphasized on the higher education and training of the members of the Bangladesh Police in the field of crime to deal with this type of crime. He mentioned that apart from all the crimes that used to be committed at the field level now, due to the increase in information technology and communication activities, the pattern of conventional crimes has changed as well as digitalized crimes have been added. Bangladesh Police is working relentlessly to combat those crimes through higher education and technological development. He also said that crimes like terrorism, militancy and extremism have been added to Bangladesh due to the influence of global crime. Bangladesh Police is successfully conducting education, training and research programs to combat such domestic, regional and international multidimensional crimes. He specifically mentioned that as a result of the sincere desire of the honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Police Staff College Bangladesh started its journey in 2000 and continues to make special contributions in the field of training and research.
Before inaugurating the course, he inaugurated the newly constructed Cyber Lab of the Police Staff College and later visited the International Police Research and Innovation Centre. He assured all-round support in the field of higher education and research.
Dr. Mallik Fakhrul Islam, BPM, PPM, Rector, Police Staff College Bangladesh presided over the function. He said, from the academic year 2015-2016, a 1-year master’s program titled “Master of Applied Criminology and Police Management” is being conducted at the Police Staff College Bangladesh under the National University. Professional A Master’s program is open to students from other professions besides police officers. Apart from the policemen in the 8th batch, officers of military and civil departments, lawyers, teachers, development workers etc. have been admitted. He expressed the hope that Smart Bangladesh will help strengthen the foundation of Smart Policing by increasing professional knowledge and skills in crime through this course. He specially thanked the IGP for his sincere cooperation. He also thanked the guests who came along with the representatives of the National University.
