The Prime Minister will attend the Munich Security Conference

 

Foreign Minister said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will participate in the 60th Munich Security Conference (Security Conference) to be held in Munich, Germany on February 16 and 18. Hasan Mahmud.

He said, during the visit, there is a possibility of meeting the top leaders of seven countries and three international organizations with the Prime Minister. Munich Security Conference President Ambassador Dr. The prime minister will leave for Germany to attend the security conference on Thursday at the invitation of Christophe Huygen.

The foreign minister gave this information at a press conference at Segunbagicha in the capital on Wednesday.

He also said that in the 60th Munich Conference, the heads of state and government of 60 countries, international organizations, media, civil society, public and private sectors will have about five hundred representatives.

He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will participate in the opening ceremony of the conference on February 16 and the high-level panel discussion on climate finance. Besides, he will also attend a civic reception organized by Bangladeshis living in Germany.

Dr. Hasan said that he will hold bilateral meetings with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Netherlands Prime Minister Mark Rata, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. As well as India’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar, UK Foreign Minister David Cameron, Germany’s Minister for International Cooperation and Development Wenja Schulz, World Bank Senior Managing Director Axel van Trotsenberg and Meta’s Global Affairs President Sir Nick Clegg of the Prime MinisterThere is a courtesy call.The Prime Minister participated in the 2017 and 2019 editions of this conference held in Munich, Germany since 1963 with the motto of bringing peace to the world through dialogue.

In this context, the foreign minister said that Germany is one of the most influential countries in the European Union. Also, Germany as a single country is Bangladesh’s second largest export market in the world and largest export market in Europe. They are also one of the development partners of Bangladesh. Germany is providing important political and humanitarian support to deal with the Rohingya issue.

In this situation, by participating in this event, bilateral meetings will be held with European leaders as well as German leaders. As a result, Dr. expressed strong hope that the upcoming visit of the Prime Minister to Germany will be very successful and fruitful. Hasan Mahmud.

On Thursday morning, he will embark on a four-day official visit on a commercial flight of Bangladesh Biman and arrive in Munich that evening. After the visit, the Prime Minister is scheduled to leave Munich for Dhaka on February 18 and arrive on February 19.

It may be noted that the Foreign Minister will participate in the panel discussion on climate security and the foreign secretary will participate in another panel discussion on peace operations.
