This decision was taken at the syndicate meeting on Friday (February 16). Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Shirin Akhtar presided over the Syndicate meeting which started at 4 PM and ended at 10:30 PM.
Two members of the syndicate said that the syndicate has decided to remove the accused teacher from the service (removal form service) based on the report of two investigation committees. We thoroughly analyzed the reports of the two inquiry committees from 4 pm to 10:30 pm. The Syndicate has taken this decision in the light of the recommendations of the inquiry committee.
It is known that on January 31, a master’s student of chemistry department filed a written complaint against the teacher of his department of sexual harassment and rape.
In light of the recommendation of the department’s academic committee, the accused teacher Mahbun Mateen was temporarily suspended from the university’s academic and administrative activities on Thursday. The anti-sexual harassment cell of the university has investigated the matter.
Ever since the allegations of attempted rape were raised, the students of the department started a continuous movement demanding the permanent expulsion of the teacher and a lawsuit against the university.
