Police have arrested three people following the death of 46 people in a fire that destroyed a popular restaurant on Bailey Road in Dhaka. Among them were Anwar Hague, 27, and Shafiq Rahman Simon, 20, owners of CIA Chuck tea shop, and Joynuddin Jinan, 30, manager of biryani restaurant Karachi Thai.
Maid Adding, another commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, told a press conference on Friday night that police were preparing to file murder charges in connection with the incident. CIA Chuck is located on the first floor of the Green Cozy Cottage building. The fire appeared to have started in the tea shop before engulfing the entire building. Kacchi Thai’s Bailey Road store is located on the first floor. The restaurant was very busy at the time of the incident on Thursday night because it was on sale.
