Gatco case complaint formation hearing on March 6

The court has fixed March 6 as the date for hearing the charges against BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and 15 accused in the GATCO corruption case.
Thursday (February 15) was scheduled for hearing the charge sheet in the case.
On this day, Khaleda Zia could not appear in court due to illness. For this, the lawyer appeared on his behalf. On the other hand, Khaleda Zia’s lawyer Masood Ahmed Talukder heard the partial complaint.
A time application was then made to adjourn the hearing. After the hearing, Judge Ali Hossain of Dhaka No. 3 Special Judge Court granted the time application and gave this order.
It is known that on September 2, 2007, Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Deputy Director Golam Shahriar Chowdhury filed this case against the then prime minister of the four-party coalition government Khaleda Zia, her younger son Arafat Rahman Koko and 13 people at Tejgaon police station. Next year, on May 13, a charge sheet was issued against 24 people including Khaleda Zia.
Out of the 24 accused in this case, eight including former minister M Saifur Rahman have died. Besides, as the death sentence of former Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Matiur Rahman Nizami was executed, he was also exempted from the case.
