The Lankans did not have a good start when they came to bat against the target of 287 runs given by Bangladesh. However, Pathum Nishanka’s 114 and Charith Asalanka’s 91 runs ensured victory for Sri Lanka. Tiger captain Nazmul Hossain credited the calm Lankan cricketers after the match loss.
After losing the match to the Lankans, Bangladesh captain Shanta expressed regret. In an interview given to the official broadcast after the match, he praised the team’s batsmen and said, “I think he (Tawheed Hriday) played really well.” This is what we want from him.
Shanta also said, ‘Soumya has also batted very well. The way Soumya and I started on such a wicket. We should have batted a little longer. Hopefully we will do better in the next match.
